Elpac Electronics Introduces 115 Watt Open Frame Medical Grade Power Supply
Company Unveils New High-Efficiency, RoHS-Compliant Models
IRVINE, CA – April 27, 2006 – Elpac Electronics, Inc., a worldwide leader in accelerating the design and manufacture of superior-quality power supplies, custom docking stations and battery chargers, today announced the release of its new MSMP115 Series open frame power supply for medical applications.
The MSMP115 Series includes four new models, eachproviding 115 watts of continuous DC power with forced air—and 80 watts with unrestricted natural convection—at single outputs of 12, 15, 24 or 28 volts. Each model takes a wide range of AC input sources while providing fully regulated DC output.
The compact, RoHS-compliant models are ideal for use in a wide variety of mobile or portable medical applications, and are backed by the industry leading Elpac five- year warranty. All medical and regulatory approvals have been completed, including EMC per EN60601-1-2, EN 61000-3-2 class D, EN 61000-3-3, FCC class B and CISPR 11 class B.

RoHS (Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment) is a European Union (EU) directive that is designed to greatly reduce or eliminate the amounts of hazardous substances that go into landfills and other waste collection areas when electronic equipment is disposed.
The reduction of hazardous substances will be accomplished by banning six substances that have a history of posing risks to human health and to the environment. These six substances are lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ether.
The RoHS directive states that as of July 1, 2006, producers of certain categories of electrical or electronic equipment will not be able to offer for sale any product that contains any of the banned hazardous substances in the 25 European Union member nations.
